A family in Wales, UK, was in for a big surprise when their 9-year-old son discovered what might be the longest potato chip in the world.
According to the British Daily Mail, Archie Davies and his parents, who live in Pontypool, were gathering to dine at home, when they realized that among the French fries on the plate, one unit stood out for its exceptional procedure.
Curious, Davies used a tape measure to check the length and found that the potato slice was approximately 9 inches.
The food came from a bag of frozen French fries from Asda, a UK supermarket chain.
This discovery left the family stunned, to the point where they wondered if this could be a record breaker.
Archie Davies also took the opportunity to pose for a photo with potato chips to celebrate the occasion and the photo shows the food looking bigger than a baby’s head.
Proud of being the protagonist of that moment, the boy decides to name the potato Jeff and his goal is to present it to the world.
Archie’s mother Laura Davies said in an interview with Wells: “He was really excited when we found her. We contacted Guinness World Records to see if it really could be a world record because we think the last record was 22.3cm.” Connected.
She said that the boy could hardly keep away from Jeff and believed that potatoes could be very successful all over the world.
“Archie loves learning all about world records. He said no one is ever allowed to touch them (on Jeff) right now and who knows if we will. I think Archie would love to be famous because of it.
She added: “I’m surprised he didn’t try to take it [Geoff] To school today actually. He had a huge smile on his face for a long time after meeting him. We did the research last night, and we didn’t think anything would come of it. But then I realized that this potato might actually have broken a record. Archie would love to be famous for that, I think.”
Asda commented on the episode and a company spokesperson stated, in a note, that he was happy to produce the large potatoes, without even knowing they existed until then.
“What a find! Not only do we offer great value to our customers, we also offer it in French fries apparently! Let’s keep our fingers crossed for this customer to break the world record.”
Despite the implications of the case, there is still no placement in the Guinness Book for the 22.8cm potato.
