The new thing that is currently being tested on instagram is a new sticker called “Reshare”, which means to re-share or share again. When you select this new sticker, a gallery with your recently viewed Instagram content opens, allowing you to select the sticker you want to share on Stories.
With the sticker, IGTV videos, reels, videos and photos posted by other users can be shared.
An Instagram spokesperson says the idea is to stop people from posting too many Stories with content other people are posting. In general, this is fine, as it helps to spread content from other users, however, it ends up cluttering stories with repetitive content many times.
Thus, the direct share button should be removed soon to make the post creation process more difficult for users, encouraging them to create more of their Stories, making Instagram a more automated social network with more original content.
If you are concerned about removing the button, know that for now Instagram is only testing the new feature and collecting feedback from users. So it will depend a lot on how people interact with the social network’s poster to decide whether or not to keep the button, although an Instagram spokesperson has already given several reasons for making the change.
Do you think Instagram should remove re-share content in Stories?
