Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a request to have Kennedy Jr. removed from the ballot in the Nov. 5 elections in Wisconsin and Michigan. He voted for Trump.
The court denied Kennedy’s emergency requests for orders from the Wisconsin Elections Commission and Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to remove him from the ballot in those states. Key states that could decide the outcome of the race between Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris include Michigan and Wisconsin.
Conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch dissented only from the Michigan ballot decision. No other justice is publicly denied.
Kennedy, known by environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine activist RFK Jr., sought Supreme Court intervention in an effort to remain on the ballot in some states and withdraw from others. In September, the Supreme Court rejected his request to be reinstated on the ballot in New York.
Kennedy dropped his campaign in August and endorsed the former Republican presidential candidate. Kennedy has been urging supporters everywhere to support Trump and has pulled out of the polls in several Republican-leaning states.
In his legal battle, Kennedy argued that government officials were violating the protections of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Against the government’s interference in free speech, he forced him to remain on the ballot even after calling for his removal.
