In September of this year, the PS5 achieved another significant sales milestone. Sony’s next-generation console surpassed the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) to become the eighth best-selling desktop video game console of all time.
According to VGChartz, it is estimated that the console has reached 61.94 million units worldwide as of last month. In doing so, he left behind Nintendo’s iconic 1983 console, which stagnated at 61.91 million.
So, it’s ahead of the PS5, in order from best-selling to least-selling: PS2, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS1, Nintendo Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360. It’s worth noting that this ranking doesn’t include handheld devices — Nintendo is still 3DS and Game Boy Advance And the PSP outperforms it.
Comparatively speaking, the PlayStation 5 will lose to the NES in North America (23.80 million vs. 33.49 million) and in Japan (6.07 million vs. 19.35 million). In Europe and the rest of the world, there are much higher sales teams.
PS5 with disc player replaces the digital version
In the US, the PS5 with disc player has outsold the digital version since launch. Nearly 80% of local consumers prefer the media-compatible version, although demand for the reader-free version has increased in recent months.
