Crew 8: After landing on Earth, the astronaut is admitted to the hospital

As expected, the Crew-8 mission landed safely on Earth on Friday (25) with four people on board. However, according to NASA information, one of the astronauts had to be hospitalized.

According to the US Space Agency, “After Crew-8 returned safely to Earth this morning from the International Space Station (ISS), the NASA astronaut experienced a medical problem and is still under observation as a precaution.”

But NASA did not say who was hospitalized. It is known that American astronauts Matt Dominic, Mike Barratt and Janet Epps, as well as Roscosmos (Russian Space Agency) astronaut Alexander Grebenkin. The health status of the other occupants of the spacecraft is also unknown.

Roscosmos published a photo of Grebenkin smiling, standing and wearing a blue uniform, indicating that he was not the person who was hospitalized. The Russian agency announced on its official Telegram channel: “After a space mission and return, astronaut Alexander Grebenkin feels great!”

  • The spacecraft left the International Space Station (ISS) on Wednesday (23);
  • On board were three NASA scientists and a Roscosmos astronaut.
  • There is no connection between Crew-8 and Crew-9, which will return to Earth astronauts from Boeing’s Starliner capsule, who have been trapped on the International Space Station for months;
  • Crew-8, in turn, launched on March 4, and is SpaceX and NASA’s eighth commercial mission to the International Space Station;
  • The mission’s goal was to continue scientific research into human exploration beyond low-Earth orbit, searching for data on health and biology.
