New Year’s Eve in Rio will see performances by Caetano, Bethania and Anita

The main ceremony will take place in Copacabana, according to tradition. Copacabana Beach will host 20 sound towers and two stages: Rio (in front of the Copacabana Palace Hotel), celebrating the diversity of Brazilian music, and Pra Sambar.

The fireworks display, which lasts for 12 minutes, will feature ten ferries in Copacabana and three other ferries in Flamingo. Fireworks displays are scheduled at Barra da Tijuca and Recreio dos Bandeirantes, but above the hotels, not on the beach. Other places where stages are scheduled to celebrate the arrival of 2025 are: Praia do Flamengo, Praia de Ramos, Parque Madureira, Penha, Ilha do Governador, Ilha de Paquita, Pango, Inheiba, Praia de Cipetiba and Barra de Guaratiba.

With this announcement, Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethania will return with a tour to Rio de Janeiro. The brothers played four shows in August at Rio’s Plaza Farmasi, and now they return to the city with a free performance.

Last year, 12 stages and 12 ferries spread across the city brought together five million people, according to information from Reuters. On the Copacabana waterfront alone, 2.5 million people gathered, in addition to 30,000 people on board seven cruise ships. The economic trading volume reached 3 billion Brazilian riyals.
