The bold initiative of a man from Florida (USA) had a happy ending in protecting his home from Hurricane Milton. To “save” your property, Pedro Casares invested $22 thousand (R$123.4 thousand) in his security system.

His idea consists of: Sink metal hooks into cement bases on the ground and pass straps, such as those used to secure loads on trucks, over the roof. Additionally, the windows were protected with siding.

As Casares’ daughter reported on social media, the procedure worked. The house remained with all the tiles installed, and only leaves scattered in the yard remained: “The house, fortunately, is fine. There are a lot of leaves everywhere, but everything is still intact. There are many damaged areas near our house.”

According to the girl, the protection will remain in place until the end of the hurricane season in Florida. She also explained that the idea came before a storm passed through Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, where they lived.

@simplyuniquesmiles93 We made it through our second tornado and are lucky we didn’t have major damage to the house. My prayers continue for those who have been deeply affected during this time. Me and my dad are about to drive by to see if anyone needs help🙏🫶🏼🏠#Hurricane Milton#CentralFL#Orlando#FLhomegoesviral#homestrappeddown#homedepot#minimum#USCC#cargocontrolstraps#acehardware#CNN#wash2news#Spectrum News#telemundo#univision#dailymail#ABCNews#ukradiostation ♬ Inspirational – Newzilla

Hurricane Milton

The phenomenon struck Florida last Wednesday night, with wind speeds reaching 205 km/hour, according to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC). After making landfall as a Category 3 hurricane, it lost strength to a Category 1 hurricane, with winds of 145 km/h.

Although the tornado was not as deadly as meteorologists had predicted, Milton destroyed homes and killed at least 17 people in the area. Three days after the storm passed, Florida’s tourism sector began to resume operations, and Orlando International Airport also resumed operations.
