When we press the throttle hard, the front feels very loose, which can cause some fright. You need to grip the steering wheel very hard to compensate. However, in curves, the steering precision is surprising, and there is no body roll.
In terms of ergonomics, there are three annoying points. The Sport mode activation button is located to the left of the steering wheel, in a low position that doesn’t allow you to know whether it’s activated or not without having to take your eyes completely off the road. It would be helpful if the panel showed whether the feature has been activated or not, which it doesn’t.
The seat height adjustment lever is also poorly placed, leaving little room for your hands. The rear window buttons are located at the back of the center console, rather than the doors. Thus, both front and rear passengers can access it.
However, this solution is unusual, but not necessarily a convenient problem. It’s actually a way to save money – which is welcome, since we’re talking about a premium priced car. Instead of your buttons for the glass, there are four.
In fact, electric windows are standard on all versions – as well as a dashboard with a TFT digital display and a multimedia centre. The Basalt has a manual parking brake, and no push-button start or face-to-face switch.
