Vasco is considering the possibility and must file a legal application to prevent the Brazilian Cup semi-final dates from being changed. Reason for change
With FIFA scheduled for October, Flamengo and Atlético MG knew they would largely miss the second leg of the Copa do Brasil semi-final. This is because players from both clubs will serve their countries in the qualifiers. In other words, some may not arrive in time to enter the field.
Initially, the matches were scheduled to be played in Week 16 and 17, but the CBF responded to requests from Rubro Negro and Gallo. The dates of the Brazilian Championship were reversed with the dates of the knockout tournament. Therefore, the decisive confrontations will be held on Saturday (19) and Sunday (20), and not Wednesday (16) and Thursday (17), immediately after the end of the two teams’ obligations.
The change sparked controversy and angered Vasco and Corinthians, the duo that did not agree to the change between competitions. Both clubs issued official statements of rejection showing their dissatisfaction.
