Flooding of houses and roads; See pictures of the floods in the United Kingdom

VMany parts of the United Kingdom faced severe flooding on Monday, with homes, roads and businesses inundated following severe storms. According to Sky News, in just 48 hours, 125.8 millimeters of rain was recorded, more than double the average expected for the whole of September.

A severe rain warning issued by the British Met Office came into force on Monday morning and is expected to last until 9pm. The force of the storm caused significant traffic disruption and considerable damage to property in the worst affected areas of Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and parts of London.

The Met Office of the United Kingdom has warned that there is a chance of more rain in the coming days, which will further worsen the situation. Emergency crews are working to service affected areas and minimize damage, while residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and prepare for new flooding.
