The UK government announced in a statement on Monday, 29th that it will negotiate trade deals with India, Gulf Cooperation Council members Israel, South Korea, Switzerland and Turkey. The British administration links this initiative to a strategy to support economic growth and local businesses.

The investment announcement was made by Jonathan Reynolds, Secretary General for Business and Trade. He is part of the Labor government led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was sworn in on July 5.

The report recalls that UK exports will total £855 billion in 2022, making the country the fourth largest global exporter. “Relaunching our relationship with the EU”, the text says, the country seeks to promote a business strategy that includes supporting more small companies to export, as well as reducing unnecessary trade barriers.

The statement said the British teams should come to the negotiating table “as quickly as possible”. The text says the first round of talks under the new government should take place in the local autumn.

The Gulf Cooperation Council is formed by Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.
