Hannah Neeleman, 33, is a stay-at-home mom of seven in rural Utah, USA. At the end of August, her life changed completely when she was named Mrs. America 2023 to an overwhelming response. She quickly won over the audience and the judges who were there. The response went viral on social media in Brazil, the country where she once lived.
The question to her was, “When did you feel most empowered?” As a mother, the answer turned out to be motherhood. “I felt that feeling seven times, bringing these holy souls to Earth. Having held this newborn in my arms, the feeling of motherhood and bringing them back to Earth is the most powerful feeling I have ever felt,” Neelyman said to applause from the audience.
Although Hannah carried the Miss South Dakota sash in the pageant, she and her husband, Daniel, own a ranch in Camas, Utah. On Instagram, where she has 6.3 million followers, she shares her family’s daily life in the countryside. There, she posts videos of herself baking homemade bread, decorating cakes, and even tending to livestock alongside her children.
Throughout her life, Hannah, who is also a dancer, competed in other beauty pageants. At the age of sixteen, she won the title of Miss Springville, and then went on to win second place in Miss Utah and Miss National. She then moved to New York, USA, to attend the Juilliard School. After getting married, Hannah Neeleman moved to Brazil for her husband’s work. “While most of their coworkers in Brazil headed to the beach on the weekends, we ventured inland, marveling at the country’s productive agricultural community,” the couple’s farm website says.
“One day, while visiting a cattle farm in central Brazil, we came across something that shocked us. As the experienced farmer talked about his impressive cattle-raising operation, Daniel couldn’t stop looking at the man’s pigs,” the portal adds. “They weren’t locked in tents. Instead, they were out in the pasture, chewing grass alongside the cows. They also enjoyed examining the fruit falling from the handful of mango, guava, cashew and star fruit trees that dot the farm.
The family then moved back to Utah and opened Ballerina Farm—a nod to her career as a ballerina. They now sell meat, roasts, and other farm produce through Ballerina Farm. Hannah also works as a social media influencer.
