Bolsonaro’s ex-advisor loses passport showing US travel

Former Special Adviser for International Affairs to the President in the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Felipe García Martínez, in 2021, lost his passport indicating his entry into the United States in December 2022. It is said to have entered North America. The territory itself grants his arrest, which was authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

As revealed in the police report of the Civil Police of the Federal District, the loss of the document occurred in the afternoon of February 26, 2021, although when traveling from the Palacio do Planaldo to Asa Sul, the information only went to the authorities a few days earlier, on March 6 of the same year.

He was investigated in the Federal Police’s (PF) Operation Tempus Veritatis following advice from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who considered the accused to be at risk of leaving the country. From Mauro Cid’s accusation, Martins Bolsonaro gave a draft of a plot. However, he denies the allegations.

Martins was accused of being part of a hate cabinet, of plotting a coup, and of subverting the democratic rule of law. According to the PF, he would have participated in a plan to keep Bolsonaro in power after he lost to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) in the 2022 elections. This will be his supposed trip to Florida (USA) on November 30, 2022 on the Presidential flight to Orlando.

The defense provided documents showing Martins’ presence in Brazil on the date of the trip. Among them are domestic airline tickets from the period, the day after the date investigators say he left for the US, receipts from the food app iFood and evidence of bank transactions.

Last Tuesday, the 25th, Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Flávio Dino rejected the habeas corpus request of the prosecutors in this case.

According to the PF report, the former adviser has two diplomatic passports in his name. However, no information about what was active and what was used was made public on the trip with Bolsonaro.
