Research revealed that Steam users spent around $19 billion on games they never played

Steam is a platform available on PC that has become very popular in recent years and continues to attract public attention, especially with its affordable prices.

Since games are sold at lower prices than console prices, there are people who end up overpurchasing games. In this case, the person does not buy the game to play it, but just to leave it in his library, as a kind of collectible.

According to research by SteamIDFinder, a database, Steam users spent about $19 billion on games they never played.

“Of the accounts registered with Steam worldwide, only 10%, or about 73 million in the SteamIDFinder database, are public. Based on the data from these accounts, we calculate that there is a total of about $1.9 billion / £1.4 billion in games Which was purchased and never played even once.”

“Multiplying this number by ten, to estimate almost all non-public Steam profiles, comes to $19 billion, more than the GDP of Nicaragua, Niger, Chad or Mauritius.”

Remember, Steam’s big promotion (Steam Summer Sale) starts this week (Thursday), and it’s a perfect opportunity for fans to buy a lot of games.
