Gary Medel is no longer a player Vasco. The Chilean agreed to terminate his contract with the club, and has already traveled to the Argentine city of Buenos Aires to agree with his next team: Boca Juniors.

The 36-year-old player posted a photo on his personal page on the social networking site, on board the plane on its way to the Argentine capital. He landed early Wednesday evening and was met by some fans at the airport.
According to the Argentine press, Medel must sign a contract valid for a year and a half, until the end of 2025.
Medel has not entered the field with Vasco since the defeat suffered by Criciuma last April, in the fourth round of the Brazilian League. It was also the last match for coach Ramon Diaz, with whom the Chilean had great respect.
He lost space in the team with the departure of the coach. Medel had relationship problems, and in January, he attacked one of the key players during the team’s concentration in Uberlandia, in Minas Gerais, in a match against Nova Iguaçu, in the Campeonato Carioca.

Despite this, the Chilean was about to get another chance, as he has been training as a starter with Alvaro Pacheco and is likely to start on Thursday, against Palmeiras, at Allianz Parque. However, the player approached the Portuguese coach and said he did not want to participate. He has already informed the board of his desire to leave and Boca Juniors are interested.
President Pedriño said on Tuesday that the termination process is underway. “It was honest, it was fair. Only those who want to represent the Vasco shirt will stay in Vasco,” he said.
Medel arrived at Vasco last year and was an important player in their journey to avoid relegation. He wore the captain’s armband and played 32 matches for Cruz-Maltina, all of which were starts.
