As soon as the statement began to cause controversy, the current European champion published an official statement denying his coach, and stating that his participation in the tournament “has never been questioned.”
In a second moment, after the publication of Real Madrid’s statement, Ancelotti said that his words were “misinterpreted,” and that he would not reject “the possibility of playing in the tournament, which I consider to be a great opportunity to continue fighting for big titles.”
Who will go to the Super World Cup?
Twenty-nine of the 32 participants in the first edition of the Super World Cup have already been decided. Of the three remaining seats, two places will be allocated to South America (2024 Libertadores champion and best placed in the CONMEBOL classification) and one to the representative of the host country.
The continent with the most participation in the FIFA competition, Europe will qualify for 12 teams: Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, Porto, Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Red Bull. Salzburg plus Real Madrid, of course.
Brazil will initially be represented by three clubs: Palmeiras, Flamengo, and Fluminense, winners of the last three editions of the Libertadores. Atletico MG, Botafogo, Gremio and Sao Paulo could also join the group, but they will only win the continental title this season.
