With only 20 days remaining until the presidential elections in Mexico, voting intentions polls are almost unanimous in favoring former Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum, representative of the left-wing Movement for National Renewal (MORENA) party.
According to research published by Mitofsky Consulting on Tuesday (05/14), Sheinbaum would win the Mexican presidential elections if they were held today, with 56% of the vote.
The runner-up will be Senator Xochitl Galvez, from the Power and Heart coalition, which brings together the largest right-wing and far-right parties in the North American country.
With Sheinbaum and Xochitl leading in the opinion polls, it is practically certain that Mexico will witness in these elections the first woman to assume the position of president of the country in its entire history.
With the support of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, whose government received a positive rating of more than 60%, Sheinbaum also has the advantage of receiving her own mandate as municipal manager with a high rating.
The presidential elections in Mexico are scheduled to be held on June 2, and will be held in one round. Accordingly, the person who obtained the highest percentage of votes is elected, even if it does not exceed 50%.
Although he does not need to exceed 50%, Sheinbaum appears with more than half the voting intentions in all opinion polls published in the country since February of this year.
