UK coins will have the face of Harry Potter

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the publication of the first book, the British body responsible for printing coins and banknotes, the Royal Mint, announced that the famous magician will print a series of coins in the United Kingdom, including the 50 cent coin.

Released in 1997, the seven-volume series tells the adventures of the young wizard Harry Potter at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and his path. Therefore, the celebration refers to the enormous success achieved by the first book, which was worth hundreds of millions of dollars, while the eight films sold for billions.

The coins will feature four designs, including the Hogwarts Express, Professor Albus Dumbledore, an image of Potter and the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The coins include an optical effect that simulates a “lightning” effect when rotated in the light. This “magical” effect is achieved through advanced lasers, which also allow the pieces to be protected and authenticated, the company specifies.

The pieces from the collection presented by the Royal Mint on Thursday include two pieces printed with images of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away last month, and two other pieces bearing the official portrait of King Charles III, according to the same statement.
