A tour guide was injured after being attacked by a tiger in the Peruvian Amazon. This case happened in December 2023 but went viral on social media this week.
The victim was identified as tour guide Fernando Tapia Vera. The man was accompanied by three other foreign tourists to photograph wildlife, such as monkeys and birds.
A group member alerted him to the tiger's presence, took out his cell phone and began recording. Through the photos that Fernando posted on social media, it is possible to see the moment when the animal advances within the group.
“The tiger stopped, but then he continued and managed to jump on me and scratch me with his claws on my leg. He was fast, I defended myself and the tiger retreated a little. “I thought he was going to leave, but no, he kept trying to get closer,” the guide recalls.
Fernando Tapia received minor injuries to his legs and managed to survive. No one else in the group was injured.
