The Brazilian Federation's decision came after receiving a positive response from the Royal Spanish Football Federation to its request to make more players available for the match, which will be held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The entity is now awaiting a signal from the English Football Association (FA), but the hammer has already been dropped that Dorival Junior will have 26 athletes at his disposal..

This is the same number that Tite reached in the last World Cup finals in Qatar, due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Given this scenario, FIFA allowed three other names to be called in addition to the usual ones. However, last year, most call-ups included 23 players – the exception being the one called up in November due to Gabriel Jesus being called up while recovering from injury.

The increase aims to allow the technical committee led by Dorival to gain time in monitoring the players on a daily basis with the aim of the first official competition, which is already taking place in the second round, in June: the Copa America. By the way, the coach revealed in an interview with CBF TV that he has a preliminary list of names that have already been noticed since he took over as coach of the team:

“We have pre-identified a group of 50-55 potential names. All these players are being noticed and it is normal for changes to happen frequently.”

Dorival also admitted that players playing abroad are in better shape to be called up on Friday due to the progress of the season.

– We are practically starting a season in our country. There, the players are on a slightly different level. We try to take all this into account when analyzing it a little deeper.

The selection will be announced by Dorival Junior next Friday, at 1pm (Brasilia time), at the headquarters of the Brazilian Football Confederation, in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro. The players will perform on the 18th in London, and training will take place for the duels with England and Spain at Arsenal Stadium.
