Actor Kevin Spacey said he intends to “voluntarily appear” before the UK courts to defend himself against sexual assault allegations.
According to ABC News, the artist said in the statement he sent exclusively to the “Good Morning America” program that he is confident of his ability to prove his innocence.
The allegations were made by three men relating to four separate incidents that allegedly occurred 17 years ago.
He told the program through a representative: “I greatly appreciate the statement issued by the Public Prosecution, in which they reminded the media and the public that I have the right to a fair trial, and that I am innocent until proven guilty.”
The statement added: “While I am disappointed in their decision to move forward, I will voluntarily appear in the UK once this is arranged, and defend myself against these charges, which I am confident will prove my innocence.”
Information from Reuters news agency reported that British prosecutors allowed Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey to be charged with sexual crimes, including assaulting three men, following a police investigation in London, on Thursday (26).
Police said the alleged crimes occurred between March 2005 and April 2013, with four incidents in the capital and one in Gloucestershire, in the south-west region of England. They involved a man who is now in his 40s and two men in their 30s.
