Gloria Pires decided to leave Globo and the series after Terra and Paixao: the relationship became strained

Those close to the actress confirm that her relationship with the broadcaster is not the best

After her success in the role of the villain Irene in Terra e Paixão, Glória Pires will leave Globo. The decision not to renew came from the actress who wanted to venture into production and be able to choose her work more. According to people close to her, the veteran no longer wants to do soap operas – Terra e Paixão will end with 221 chapters.

The broadcaster approached Glória Pires in 2022 and proposed renewing the exclusive contract for a short period, but she only chose to extend the time to make Terra e Paixão at the request of Walcyr Carrasco.

The conversation suggestion came from a broadcaster who had given up long exclusive contracts with his talent. Gloria has been the star of the house for nearly 55 years and Globo has wanted to renovate for a short time. Having appeared on television since she was five years old – and never doing any theater – the actress was already wanting to breathe new air. She used to tell those close to her that she missed more challenging and higher-quality projects, such as TV series, for example. Although she was part of Globo's first team, she was never chosen for this kind of work and felt discredited when she was only seen, for example, in more popular projects such as TV series.

According to people close to Gloria, she was replaced by Regina Casé in Todas as Flores ruined her good relationship with the broadcaster. The actress was already scheduled to perform in the series – which will be broadcast after the Pantanal (2022) on open TV – and found out that she would no longer do so through the press. The exchange of pleasantries between João Emmanuel Carneiro and Regina in various media was the key for Gloria to understand the rug being pulled. Only after information leaked, she was informed that she would not be taking on the role of the main villain in the series, which eventually became available on Globoplay.

The moment came in handy and she made lemonade out of lemons, as she was already thinking about not renewing her exclusive contract.

Once he learned of the complicated situation, Sir Carrasco asked Gloria to host his own television series. The two had worked together in the film The Other Side of Paradise (2017), and the novelist promised her a great character, the evil Irene, who became one of the biggest successes in history.

Excited to return to playing a villain after the fiasco of Babilônia (2015), Gloria extended her contract just to be in Terra e Paixão. When the series ends, the broadcaster leaves, only to return for more expressive work and with a work contract only. Cleo Pires' mother wants to devote herself to shorter projects, such as cinema, and is thinking of trying work on streaming platforms, which are increasingly appreciated.
