A new official portrait of King Charles III was released on Monday (15.01). Dressed in a Royal Navy uniform, the record was created to be hung in public buildings across the UK under an £8 million government-funded scheme.
The photo of the King in full regalia was taken inside Windsor Castle last year by Hugo Bernand, who also took the King and Queen's coronation and 2005 wedding photos.
The Cabinet Office said many public organizations had displayed official portraits of Queen Elizabeth II, and “the display of the new official portrait of King Charles III will enable organizations across the UK to continue this tradition.”
The official portrait depicts the King wearing a Royal Navy uniform as Admiral of the Fleet, his right hand resting in white gloves on an antique table and his left hand holding a sword. He stands in the great hall of the royal residence.
