A beautiful and rare first generation Actros (MP1) has been restored to the smallest detail by a truck enthusiast, especially Mercedes-Benz models. He Dominic Newby, in addition to the Actros in this article, has already restored the NG 1622 from the 1980s, a rare and award-winning model at several European truck shows.

Dominic chose to restore this Actros because it was the model he worked on when he was a truck driver. In 2020 he found this example, at the time the flagship model, and it was his idea to restore it to celebrate the Actros' 25th anniversary: ​​”There are almost no MP1s. So unique I didn't pass up the chance to give it a new life”, he says. says

However, this example had something special: it was one of the first Octroes produced (we're talking about the 1997 MP1 2557) and it was one of four trucks offered to McLaren as part of the Mercedes-Benz sponsorship. The original painting of the truck was done by McLaren's own paint shop, using the same paint scheme as the racing cars of the time. Despite being in good condition, it needed a restoration in 1997 to make it look like it left the workshop. On the mechanical side, Dominic says that the vehicle was in such good condition that no mechanical work needed to be done. He recently bought a trailer that will be converted into a motorhome and has room to carry his NG 1622 so that he and his family can travel together around the UK and Europe to the events and truck shows he attends.
