At least one person was killed and several others were injured in a shooting attack at a high school in Dallas County, Iowa, USA, on Thursday (4) morning. The local sheriff told reporters there were “multiple gunshot victims.”
According to ABC, the sheriff said police have identified the alleged shooter, but have not released additional details about the suspect. “There is no longer any danger to the public. The community is safe,” said Sheriff Adam Infante. “We're now working backwards, trying to figure out everything that happened and make announcements.”
The shooting happened before the start of the school day and there were few students at Perry High School, a fact that contributed to the tragedy not being serious, according to the sheriff.
Two patients were being treated at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, ABC learned from a hospital spokeswoman.
