Leaked images show the canceled “reboot” of the TimeSplitters – Games app

About a week after Embracer Group announced the closure of Free Radical Studio, concept images of a “reboot” of the shooter TimeSplitters, which was in development, have emerged. Leaked on the Internet.

The images were posted on the ArtStation website, where artists share their work, suggesting that the development team has little hope of seeing the new TimeSplitters come to fruition.

According to developers Free Radical Design, this TimeSplitters reboot was originally envisioned as a Battle Royale to rival Fortnite, but the project took a “180-degree turn” to become something simpler: a new, expanded version of TimeSplitters 2 with additional content and some changes to the plot.

The reboot will have some levels from the original TimeSplitters and original scenarios in the mix as well.

“It’s going to be a ‘what if…’ where Corporal Hart takes Cortez’s place so we can do things a little differently,” a studio member explained, referring to the two main characters of TimeSplitters 2.

In the original game, Cortez was the main character, but in the remake he will cede the spotlight to the female character, Corporal Hart.

When confirming its closure, Free Radical stated that the new TimeSplitters project had been canceled from that point on, though publisher Plaion had the autonomy to try to find another studio and fund the project in some way.
