Firstly, December is like the final episode of the series, but in real life. In other words, it’s time to throw everything that did (or didn’t happen) on the table, and of course confront the family over dinner with the question, “What about friends?” Moreover, in the age of TikTok and Instagram, the pressure is even greater! December × Mental Health: Closing the session
The end of the year is a time for heavy self-evaluation. In this way, almost everyone makes a list of goals (which will likely remain on paper), and re-evaluates what has worked or not worked in the past 12 months.
The stress of having to be full and fulfilled in December is uncomfortable for many! And with the speed of digital, we always seem to be late to the train of life.
Parties, family and FOMO
December is synonymous with parties, but sometimes, in the midst of so much socializing, many want to stay home and watch a movie. There’s a company party, a secret friend, a family reunion… And of course, Instagram is not so forgiving: just open it to see everyone having fun, which increases the feeling of FOMO (fear of missing out).
How to improve mental health in December
- Digital Detox: How about taking a break from networking? No one has to know you spent all day Saturday in your pajamas.
- The art of saying no: Just because there’s a party doesn’t mean you have to go. Mental health thank you!
- Lots of self-care: Do what makes you happy. Whether it’s watching your favorite series or discovering new hobbies.
- Vent: Talking with friends or seeking professional help can be more energizing than coffee.
