The Andean State Ministry of Foreign Affairs justified the decision by noting that Israel committed crimes against humanity in its recent attacks on the Gaza Strip.

This is not the first time Bolivia has taken such action. In 2009, the country previously severed its diplomatic relations with Israel in protest against the attacks it carried out in the same region.
