Science and Health at Petropolis Business

Petrópolis Business has brought important institutions from the regional and Brazilian scene to the Sesc Quitandinha Cultural Center. In the field of scientific research and technological development, the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing proposes in its pavilion various activities illustrating the use of science in the most diverse sectors of daily life. In the field of health, the Itaborai Forum: Politics, Science and Culture in Health, a program of the Fiocruz Presidency in Petrópolis, offers a special focus on medicinal plants and offers unique experiences for visitors.

During the event, which continues until today (29), LNCC will showcase research in the field of development, highlighting research groups and their activities and entrepreneurship with the Incubator, an initiative of the foundation whose mission is to launch projects and transform knowledge into new products, services and processes. Furthermore, it will be possible to explore the contributions of the SD supercomputer to the development of science, as well as the application of artificial intelligence. The activities offered by the Foundation focus on science, technology, innovation, health and well-being.

Itaborai Forum also offers many new features to the public at its booth, with the aim of exchanging knowledge on traditional, popular and scientific usage. There are medicinal plants, about 30 species on display and some with the possibility of tasting.

One new feature is that Fórum Itaboraí brought to the event a version of Amazonian grape leaves, as they are popularly known. The Coccoloba gigantifolia leaf was recorded in 1997 as the largest dicot leaf in the Guinness Book of World Records. The tree can reach a height of 13 meters and its leaves can be up to 2.40 x 1.68 metres.

LNCC and Fórum Itaboraí are also present with important topics in the Petropolis Business Lectures. The event continues until Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm. The full program is available on the event’s official website (www.petropolisbusiness.com.br).
