An employee of Tsingtao Brewery Co., one of China’s leading beer producers, was caught urinating on the product’s raw materials during his shift at the Tsingtao factory, located in the city of Qingdao in the country’s eastern Shandong province. This week, the video clip went viral on social media, garnering thousands of views on the popular Weibo platform. On Friday, the 20th, the company announced that it was conducting an investigation into the case. Information quoted from the news agency France Press agency.

As a result of the repercussions of the photos showing the employee’s actions, the company issued an official statement expressing the importance of the video, informed the police of the incident urgently, and involved public security authorities in the investigation process.

Furthermore, the entire batch of affected raw materials has been isolated. The manufacturer also highlighted its ongoing commitment to improving management procedures and maintaining the quality of its products.

“Our company attaches great importance to the video. We reported the incident to the police as soon as possible and public security organs are involved in the investigation. Currently, the entire barley batch in question has been closed. The company continues to strengthen its capabilities, manage procedures and ensure the quality of its products.”

On social media, many users expressed their anger at the employee’s attitude and showed their support for the brand. Comments like “I suggest the company sue this guy and make him pay for any damages” were common in responses to the company’s statement on Weibo. Another user stressed the need for an in-depth investigation, saying: “Investigate this matter thoroughly! Always defend our leading national brands!”

Tsingtao, which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, is China’s second-largest beer company, with its bottles found in bars across East Asia. In recent years, the company has struggled to adapt to the changing tastes of younger Chinese consumers, expanding its product line to include craft beer and other items.
