Yevgeny Prigozhin And he was not the only internationally known Russian who died strangely last August. Dmitry Fedyanin, a Russian-born young award-winning scientist, has died after falling from a cliff in the Berchtesgadner Alp National Park in Germany.
The incident with the 34-year-old Russian occurred on August 12. According to the New York Post, he was using a navigation app to get down to Götzenalm, near Lake Königssee, but was directed by an off-the-beaten path. And the tragedy could have happened after the scientist lost his balance on a rocky ledge and fell from a height of 150 metres.
“Our investigators assume that the man slipped on the rocky area with some patches of grass,” Maximilian Meyer, a spokesman for the Upper Bavarian state police, said in a statement.
Fedyanen’s disappearance was revealed after the owner of the place where he was staying in Götzenalm noticed that his bed was unused and alerted the police. A helicopter spotted the scientist’s body.
Dmitry Vedyanin studied at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in Moscow. He was awarded the Order of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2011 and the Young Scientist Award from the European Society for Materials Research in 2012.
