Jojo Todynho receives Fantástico after bariatric surgery
Twelve days after he underwent bariatric surgery, Jojo Todynho received his Fantástico at his home. Due to medical requirements, the singer had to lose 20 kilos, with nutritional re-education and plenty of physical exercise, before undergoing the surgery.
To reporter Renata Seribelli, Jogo said he decided to have the operation after participating in the Celebrity Dance last year. Her decision was also influenced by her desire, which she confesses to Fantástico: the desire to be a mother.
Jojo, who has 27 million followers on the networks, only talked about the surgery after she had it. And he was criticized for that.
“There were people saying I was afraid of cancellation. Canceled because I was looking for health? Canceled because I was looking for a better life? I want to be a mother. I want to have a quality of life to pass on to my kids.”
When she had the operation, Jojo weighed 140 kilograms. According to her surgeon, the artist should lose between 30 and 50 kilograms. When this happens will depend on the metabolic responses that can develop, which are individual.
The surgery took place on August 8th and lasted an hour and fifteen minutes. The medical team chose video laparoscopy, a technique considered minimally invasive.
Jojo’s surgeon explained that 90 percent of her stomach had been removed. And along with that excluded part, cells that produce the hormone responsible for hunger also appeared.
“We’re blocking the production of a hormone called ghrelin, which is the hunger hormone, so in JoJo’s case, in addition to feeling early fullness, she won’t be hungry anymore, or if she gets very hungry, very little.”
But doctors warn: this surgery is not indicated for all obesity cases.
