CBF goes to FIFA to ban athletes sanctioned for foul play from playing in other countries | soccer

The Brazilian Football Confederation has asked FIFA to provide global coverage of the penalties applied in Brazil to players convicted of involvement in football manipulation. In addition, the CBF has designated and notified the national football associations to which these players have been transferred.

This is the case in Turkey, for example, where defender Eduardo Burman, formerly of Santos, went. He received a 360 day suspension from STJD without being able to act professionally. He was later signed by Alanyaspor, but he has yet to make his debut and is not registered in the domestic league.

The Vietnamese Confederation, where midfielder Andre Cuixo currently plays, has also been notified of a 600-day ban. He was signed by Nam Dinh FC and has already made two appearances.

FIFA usually responds to this kind of request, especially in cases of this kind. The Entity’s Disciplinary Code states that even provisional measures (for which appeals still apply) can be extended to other states.

In these cases, the players’ destination country is subject to the same decision application as the country of origin. In other words: if the sports justice system in Brazil ends with the player being acquitted, then the penalty will also be abolished internationally.

Eduardo Bauermann’s defense has lodged an appeal with the Special Court for Justice and Democracy (prohibition of statements), which has yet to be decided. The player was contacted for comment on the situation, but did not respond until it was posted.

In a note posted on its website, the CBF mentioned the number of 15 players, but did not identify them. STJD Plenary Session (2nd and last) penalized 13 players recently.

These athletes have been denounced by the Public Ministry’s Operation Penalty Maximum of Goiás, which since 2022 has been investigating a major scheme of match-fixing in several state championships and in the Brazilian championship for Series A and B.

After the first two complaints filed by MP-GO, the The Federal Police also joined the case. In addition to the investigation in the criminal field, there are ongoing proceedings in the Sports Court.
