Lula discusses Venezuela with Macron and Latin American leaders

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva On Monday afternoon (July 17, 2023), the (PT) met with Latin American leaders, with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in Brussels, Belgium, as the CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) summit with the European Union is taking place.

As he found out The power is 360The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Venezuela, which will have presidential elections in 2024. The country’s vice president, Delcy Rodriguez, and opposition leader, Gerardo Blade, were at the meeting.

The heads of state called for a fair and transparent electoral process in the country, in accordance with the law and international treaties in force. They also insisted on the possibility of international monitoring and stated that sanctions against the government of Nicolás Maduro could end if Venezuelans accepted such conditions.

The European Union had already asked to monitor the electoral process, but Venezuela blocked any monitoring mission from the bloc. There is an effort by other Latin American countries to bring Nicolás Maduro back to the international stage and dialogue with the opposition.
