Valtteri Bottas has been disqualified from qualifying for the British Grand Prix, round 10 of the 2023 Formula 1 season, after failing to provide a one-litre fuel sample at the end of the session.
He stopped on track at the end of Q1 with a problem that forced him out of the session and meant he would temporarily start the race from P15 on the F1 grid.
Although it would have been possible to sample 0.090 liters of your car’s fuel, the amount required is 2.39 liters for a one-litre sample, according to the regulations.
FIA delegate Joe Bauer has referred the issue to the stewards in a decision document: ‘As the amount of fuel needed to produce a one-litre sample plus return the car to the garage has been calculated to be 2.39 litres, I am forwarding this to the commissioners for consideration. ‘.
The commissioners decided that no extenuating circumstances warranted the case and issued a disqualification from the hearing.
The result means Sergio Perez is promoted to P15, with Yuki Tsunoda, Cho Juanyo, de Vries and Magnussen in an agreed position.
