Coffee addict defines cancer
In July 2021, Michael searches for a doctor who sends him for tests. The results revealed that the pain he was experiencing was caused by throat cancer.
He underwent intensive treatment for three months, with 35 sessions of radiotherapy and three cycles of chemotherapy. During that time, Michael required hospitalization twice before he was discharged in February 2022.
Currently, in partnership with a hospital, he is working to raise awareness of throat cancer.
Throat Cancer
Cigarette smoking and alcoholism are known risk factors for throat cancer. However, there are also other factors, such as infection with human papillomavirus (HPV).
When throat cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, the chances of a cure are around 90%.
It is important not to ignore a sore throat and frequent coughing, as they can be warning signs of illness. Other symptoms include:
- The presence of nodules in the neck and throat area.
- Persistent hoarseness
- difficulty swallowing
- Sensation of something stuck in the throat.
- With video laryngoscopy, it is possible to identify lesions suspicious of cancer and determine the need for a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.
