According to PCS, road workers will “take part in a 12-day strike on English roads from December 16 to January 7”. PCS is also expected to announce new dates for strikes in other sectors. At the same time, strikes by railway workers, organized months ago by several unions to demand higher wages to offset inflation, will continue throughout December. Security guards on the Eurostar train, which connects London to continental Europe, have also called for a multi-day strike.
Finally, 350 third-party baggage handlers at Heathrow Airport, one of Europe’s largest airports, also plan to call a 72-hour strike from December 16.
