A man and a woman from the activist group Just Stop Oil threw two pies at a wax statue of King Charles III inside Madame Tussauds in London, England, on Monday (24). Information from Reuters news agency. The action was filmed and posted on the movement’s Twitter feed.
The footage shows Eilidah McFadden, 20, from Glasgow, and Tom Johnson, 29, from Sunderland, climbing onto the platform where wax statues of Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Princess Catherine stand. They take off their coats and flaunt their Just Stop Oil shirts.
McFadden and Johnson threw the tornado in the face of the King figure. The protest is the latest by the group’s activists, who previously threw soup over Vincent van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” at the National Gallery in London on October 14.
They have blocked roads around Parliament and government departments, and demanded that Britain halt all new oil and gas projects.
Allied groups in other countries also intensified their protests ahead of the start of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties in Egypt on 6 November.
On Sunday (23), two German activists from the Letzte Generation group threw mashed potatoes at the Monet “Grainstacks” painting at the Barberini Museum in Potsdam, Germany.

“We are in the midst of a climate catastrophe and the only thing we fear is tomato soup or potato soup on a plate. Do you know what I’m afraid of? This science has claimed we won’t be able to feed our families in 2050,” activist Miriam Hermann told museum visitors.
“This painting is worthless if we are fighting over food. When is it time to listen and not go on like before?”
The group said the painting’s value is estimated at about $111 million. “Fortunately, the painting was protected by glass and carefully sealed. Therefore, no liquids could penetrate the painting and the painting itself was not damaged,” a press release published by the Barberini Museum in Potsdam reported.
Activists were arrested.
