Kevin Spacey clears Anthony Rapp’s sexual harassment claim

Kevin Spacey was acquitted of sexual assault charges brought by actor Anthony Rapp on Thursday. The jury that evaluated the case in New York found that there was insufficient evidence of the alleged crime. With the decision, the “House of Cards” protagonist will no longer need to pay $40 million in moral damages to Raab.

It took the jurors about an hour and twenty minutes to reach an agreement. The conclusion reached was that Rapp’s attorneys could not prove that Spacey had touched a sexual or intimate part of the other actor.

Rapp alleges that he was sexually assaulted in 1986, when he was 14 years old. He claims that on the day of the alleged harassment, he was at Spacey’s house when the star, already drunk, picked him up and put him to bed. Spacey reportedly lay next to the young man, put his arms around him and pressed his crotch against the teenager’s body.

Spacey’s lawyers pointed out inconsistencies in Rappe’s allegations. The main point the defense made was that Rapp would have described the rooms of the house in the wrong way. In addition, they argued that Rapper would be jealous of Spacey’s successful career in Hollywood.

He is best known for his role in the Netflix series House of Cards on US politics.

Despite this victory, Spacey is still embroiled in other lawsuits. He was ordered to pay $31 million to MRC, the producer of “House of Cards,” after the series got into trouble over allegations of abuse. Spacey is also facing charges in the UK for the sexual assault of three men.
