A short speech to communicate a huge decision. Coach Marcelo Gallardo announced, on Thursday, his departure from River PlateAfter eight years of service in this role. The coach will remain at the club until the end of his contract in December and will not renew his contract after that.
– I inform you that it is the end of the contract, I no longer follow the club. It is one of the hardest decisions in my life to be honest. It is a very delicate moment to express myself. I will take a short break. “I’m here to thank the people who trusted me,” the coach said.

When the date was set for Thursday, Gallardo was expected to hold a press conference. However, the speech at the Monumental Stadium did not last more than five minutes.

Marcelo Gallardo served as River Plate manager for eight years. He became the most successful manager in the club’s history.with two titles in the Libertadores, one from the Copa Sudamericana, one copy of the Argentine Championship, three titles of the Argentine Cup, among other achievements.
Gallardo was the first coach in 63 years of Argentine football to stay with the same team for eight years.
The coach did not speak to the press about four games in the season. Following the victory over Platense over the Argentine championship, a meeting was held with the club’s president, Jorge Brito, on Wednesday evening, and it continued until the early hours of this morning.

The River Plate team will be working at the Ezeiza Training Center on Thursday afternoon. The next match will be on Sunday, at the Monumental Stadium, against Rosario Central, for the Pro League. This should be Gallardo’s last home game.
River Plate occupies second place in the second stage of the Argentine championship, with 44 points, four points behind leaders Boca Juniors, who has another match), and still has chances to lift the title, which will be Gallardo’s number 15.
