WhatsApp reveals that it will not launch this feature in 2022 in Brazil, and users are worried; a look

Meta, the company responsible for The WhatsAppShe revealed that she will not launch a “Comunidades” job in Brazil this year. In this way, the tool should remain for the next year.

“We are excited about the value that Communities Functions will bring to social enterprises and businesses to run their group conversations. As we make progress, we don’t expect to launch Communities in Brazil before 2023.”

In order to prevent the spread of false news via messaging platform, WhatsApp and the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) signed an agreement in February of this year not to release the resource before the elections and thus bargained for it.

However, WhatsApp reiterated that the decision to announce the launch for next year is a personal one for the company, and has nothing to do with the TSE agreement.

In any case, in July, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in São Paulo already recommended that the platform delay the implementation of “Communities” until next year.

“At a time when false news about the functioning of institutions and the integrity of the Brazilian voting system can jeopardize the democratic stability of the country.”

WhatsApp will not launch Communities in Brazil

The feature will give more control to administrators when managing multiple groups. But since it is in the early stages of development, it has not been released even in the beta version of the messenger.
