A group of members of parliament from the Democratic Party in the United States sent a letter to President Joe Biden on Friday (9). In the speech, they ask Biden to make it clear to Bolsonaro that Brazil will be isolated from the United States and the world if there is an attempt to “subvert the electoral process.”
The US president, a Democrat, said, “President Bolsonaro, his government and security forces must make it clear in no uncertain terms that Brazil will be isolated from the United States and from the international democratic community. It will disrupt the electoral process of the country.
31 representatives and 8 senators signed the letter. They cite Bolsonaro’s attacks on the electoral system and urge Biden that anti-democratic actions will cost Brazil, for example, ceasing to be a global partner of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) or losing US support. Entry into the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
“Such efforts [contra a democracia e o sistema eleitoral] That would have serious consequences, including a review of Brazil’s status as a global NATO partner [Organização do Tratado do Atlântico Norte] And [como] An important non-NATO ally,” the letter reads.
