Atltico and Arena MRV CEO Bruno Muzzi detailed the current status of immigration to SAF (Sociedade Anima do Futebol). Internally, the high level Galo is urgently dealing with the change in order to balance the financial situation of the club, which has debts exceeding 1.1 billion Brazilian reals.

Initially, the CEO indicated that the transition to SAF is being “pursued” by Atltico. The mining club has between 15 and 20 confidentiality agreements – which allow for the first exchange of documents – signed.

“SAF is the path that is being taken. (…) We have already contacted many investors around the world. More than 130 investors have been contacted. We have between 15 and 20 confidentiality agreements signed, and companies are evaluating the opportunity before signing on but they have responded.”

“We have all the homework ready: We’ve already called you, we have (non-disclosure agreements) signed, we exchanged information. There are no proposals. There are conversations developing. It has no history, no background type, nothing specific. The process remains closed, he added. And there are still plenty of companies out there to give us feedback.”

Muzzi also made it clear that no type of template can be provided for future negotiations, since each investor profile has different interests in SAF. In any case, Atltico expects to raise more than R$1 billion through the sale.

“We still don’t have any definition of anything in SAF. What is the type of investor, the percentage of control (if they have that or not), the history, and much less the perimeter of the operation: what goes in and what stays. It depends on each investor, because there are investors In football (like Citigroup) and investors who are funds (part football, part entertainment).”

What type of investor are Atltico looking for?

Muzzi emphasized that there is still no definition of a potential “ideal investor,” but he did express his preferences for Superesportes. The manager hopes Atletico SAF can be negotiated with a partner who is also making efforts in the field of entertainment.

“I like an investor who has one foot in the United States and one foot in Europe. In Europe, because of the football experience, the grassroots class. I think it is very important in the life of Atlético moving forward. And that has the entertainment case (USA), knowing How to explore, know how to use the sport, and approach the product the same way in the league. That makes me very happy,” he said.

Finally, Bruno Mozzi explained the bottleneck in the process, which will occur when there is a more tangible interest in one of the groups in the negotiations. The Executive Director noted that the proposal would need to be analyzed by the Deliberation Board in order to be approved.

“You need to do a procedure called process letter. A, we begin to make a date. There are a lot of signatories, so, from now on, everyone who is interested needs to put a proposal in the binding. Indicative proposal. A., there is a process of diligence, and above all That, you have to take it to the council, because who will determine it. See: “She has these names, they have these conditions. What do you think?”., Muzzi finished.
