ANS ends with the coverage limit in plans of four occupational categories

The Collegiate Council of the National Agency for Complementary Health (ANS), in an extraordinary meeting last Monday (11), agreed to end restrictions on the number of consultations or sessions with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and psychologists.

This applies to all health plan users with a disease or condition defined by the World Health Organization, which includes, for example, schizophrenia, Down syndrome or cerebral palsy. The end-of-session limit begins to apply to patients with any diagnosis, based on the indication of the attending physician.

According to the ANS, the purpose of the decision is to promote equal rights for all users of complementary health, and to standardize the form of actions for these currently guaranteed professional categories. This means excluding the instructions for use, that is, the conditions required for some coverage, for all the professionals already mentioned, considering the prescription now.

Also on July 1, the agency already Coverage is mandatory For any method or technique recommended by healthcare professionals responsible for treating pervasive developmental disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder and Asperger’s and Rett syndromes.

Published by the Official Gazette of the Federation, the new decision enters into force on August 1, 2022.
