Spain is experiencing one of its hottest pre-summer heat waves in at least 20 years.

In the valley of the Guadalquivir River, in Seville, and in the neighboring city of Córdoba, last Saturday (11), temperatures reached 40 degrees Celsius, according to information from the country’s national weather agency, AEMET.

“We are seeing unusually high temperatures for the month of June,” said Ruben del Campo, a spokesman for Emmett.

According to the agency, the heat wave in most parts of the country is caused by general stability accompanied by a mass of very hot air coming from North Africa.

This Sunday, temperatures reached (12) degrees Celsius in Andujar and 42 degrees Celsius in the cities of Cordoba and Carmona in the south of the country.

Also according to AEMT, the heat wave will continue until next Thursday (15).
