Zelensky says Ukraine has had “some success” in Severedonetsk, but “it’s still early days”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave an update on the situation in Donbass in his country daily messagePosted Thursday evening.
Recognizing that the situation on the ground “has not changed significantly” over the course of the day, Zelensky nonetheless wanted to remain optimistic. “We had some success in the battles in Severodonetsk, but it’s still early days,” said the Ukrainian president. He admitted that neighboring cities such as Lysichansk and Bakhmut were facing a “strong Russian attack”.
The President also took the opportunity to report on the continued bombing of several cities in the country, especially in the northern regions. Zelensky denounced that “the futile attacks on our northern borders, in particular Chernihiv, are continuing from the Russian lands.”
The Ukrainian president also took the opportunity to applaud the European Union’s decision to go ahead with a Russian oil embargo, stressing that there will be more sanctions soon. “Step by step, we will strip the Russian state of all elements of the modern economy,” Zelensky promised. “no one lobby“No country will help Russia in any country,” the Ukrainian leader added.
