Philomena Martins is the next guest of the Science Café
Next Tuesday, May 31, at 3:00 pm, another session of the Science Café Course Dedicated to the Sea, organized by Fábrica Centro Ciência Viva de Aveiro, will be held online. Filomena Cardoso Martins, from the Department of Environment and Planning at the University of Aveiro, is the guest of this talk titled “My Land is the Sea…”.
Portugal sea! …a phrase we hear and read in different contexts. Both in literature and poetry, as in the historical narrative and in explaining the social construction of the territory, as well as in establishing public policy priorities. But what does this mean? Is portuguese lands a sea? Is society and the national economy shaped by the presence of the sea? How is the sea connected and conditioned between us? These are some of the questions that the invited scientist will try to answer in this conversation with citizens and that we want to be more aware of and their responsibility.
Filomena Cardoso Martins is a researcher in the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy (GOVCOPP) and at the Center for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM), and a professor in the Department of Environment and Planning at the University of Aveiro.
This Science Café is held in an online format and has free participation. This initiative takes place within the scope of the project “Mar Azul: Communication for Participation and Education”, promoted by the University of Aveiro, through Fábrica Centro Ciência Viva de Aveiro, funded by Fundo Azul.
