The U.S. president has announced that Karen Jean-Pierre, the administration’s former deputy secretary of state, will be the White House’s new spokeswoman. Kareen is the first black woman to hold this position and is part of the LGBTQIA + community.
The announcement came Thursday (5/5) after the resignation of Jen Zaki, who had held the post since the beginning of the Biden administration. Kareen will take office on May 13, according to a White House statement.
In announcing his resignation from the government, Saki celebrated Kareena’s election. “He will give voice to many, but he will magnify many dreams,” he tweeted.
She was the first black woman to serve as White House press secretary and the most outspoken LGBTQ + person. Representation is important and he will give voice to many, but will magnify many dreams about what is truly possible.

President Joe Biden said he was proud of the appointment and celebrated Kareena’s “experience, talent and honesty.”
History and Representation
Karen Jean-Pierre is 44 years old and was born on Martinique Island, part of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean. In addition, he married a journalist CNN From the United States, he has a daughter.
With this appointment, Kareen became the first black woman to hold the position of spokeswoman, and also the first lesbian woman to accept the role.
The new spokesperson, a graduate of Columbia University in New York, has spoken many times about how his family path – the iconic “American Dream” – was crucial to his life. “I’m all that Donald Trump hates,” he said in a video for the MoU On organization, referring to the former Republican leader in 2018, in which he was a leading figure.
He was part of Barack Obama’s two presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012, and participated in Joe Biden’s election campaign, before becoming deputy press secretary at the White House.
