An amateur archaeologist claims to have discovered the ruins of an ancient civilization on St. Beach. Bernard Parish, Louisiana (USA). The discovery was featured in local newspapers, but has not yet been verified by experts in the field.
In an interview with WWLTV, George Kelley said he had visited the site 44 times and confirmed the presence of large underwater granite mounds near the Chandelier Islands, the site of a city that disappeared 12,000 years ago. These areas are currently uninhabited and are located in the Gulf of Mexico, 80 km east of New Orleans.
According to Kele, the city may have been surrounded by dry land before it disappeared as sea levels rose at the end of the last ice age. According to him, the site now submerged was the homeland of pre-Mayan, Inca and Aztec civilizations.
“Hundreds of buildings geographically associated with the Great Pyramid of Giza are in sand and mud,” he explained.
Kele said he also discovered mysterious granite masses at the archeological site, however, he assures that the rock type does not belong to the states of Louisiana and Mississippi, indicating the possibility that the material was brought to the islands from a distant location. .
“Someone threw a billion rocks into the Mississippi River and collected them outside, which later became New Orleans.”
Electromagnetic mystery?
Kele has been exploring the remnants of this ancient civilization for nearly 50 years, making numerous trips with local fisherman Ricky Robin. Robin told WWL-TV that as he approached the area where the tip of a pyramid was located, the compass on his boat completely changed.
He has produced underwater sonar images that claim to be the remains of large buildings and pyramid monuments. “This is something that creates incredible electromagnetic energy,” Kele commented. “Apparently, it was 85 meters high.”
Robin, on the other hand, said the Chandelier Islands area has attracted many fishermen, who have been catching strange square rocks in their nets for years. “I immediately thought they were pieces of the pyramid because that’s where the compass turned,” Robin said.
Not everyone agrees with the theories, which still require scientific evidence, but Kele is motivated by the conviction of his discovery.
Many distortions are not stabilized. It’s about architecture, exterior surfaces, rain gutters and more. Who can build a solid granite structure the size of large Roman monuments in these waters now covered with sediment? I don’t know if they had a UFO flying over someone’s shoulder or not. All I know is that the granite rocks were left there.

There may be another explanation for the rocks
There are other theories about rocks. A study by the University of Texas A&M in the late 1980s suggests that masses came from shipwrecks or piles of ballast from Spanish or French ships. On the way to New Orleans, sand dunes or rocks may have been thrown into the sea to reduce the weight of ships trapped in shallow water.
According to Rob Mann, state archeology professor at the University of Louisiana, the stones were part of an attempt to create an artificial rock by pouring construction materials into the water in the 1940s.
“I don’t think searching underwater at this point will give us any more answers,” Mann said. “Once the historical archives are completed, we can look at the records and the newspapers and find out exactly what it is about.”
Gelé added that he hopes modern sonar technology and satellite imagery will help unlock the secrets of some of the ridges.
