The U.S. Labor Council has complained to Amazon that the worker was fired illegally

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in the United States has announced that it is preparing a complaint against Amazon for illegally firing a worker at a company warehouse in New York.

Taekwondo Smith, one of the founders of the Amazon Trade Union Confederation (ALU), was involved in the case. Apparently, because the employee was involved in the union, he precisely severed his relationship with the online retailer.

According to Bloomberg, NLRB spokeswoman Kayla Blado said the agency’s regional director has determined that allegations of illegal dismissal filed by the ALU will become a valid and legitimate complaint.

“The union and other protected integrated activities will be reported to have been laid off due to other allegations,” Plato explained.

ALU said Smith was evicted from his home after losing his job at Amazon. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. The NLRB has the power to reinstate illegally laid off workers, although it has not yet been announced whether this will happen.

This is not the first time Amazon has clashed with its trade union and labor council. Recently, the NLRB was ordered to hold new union elections at the Alabama warehouse for interfering in local elections in April 2021.

At the event, workers voted that there was no union in the area. However, the department store, retail and wholesale association said the company did not allow a fair election and was a real demonstration of the employees’ will.
